My roommate's band opened for Bon Jovi!!!
Ninteen years after "Livin' on a Prayer" was spun at Bar and Bat Mitzvahs nationwide, my roommate's band Kerosene Sky opened for Bon fucking Jovi! In Fresno!
Seems Clear Channel (boo, hiss!) was sponsoring some contest where bands local to each stop of Bon Jovi's U.S. Tour could win a chance to open for the Jov at each respective city. Although Gabriel (that's my roommate) and Kerosene Sky are based in L.A., he is a Fresno native, so his sister submitted their CD to the contest.
He found out last week that they were the winners. The Fresno local press loved it!
But apparently this guy did not.
Gabriel came back yesterday and said he had a blast. He said the guys (especially Mr. Bon Jovi himself) were pretty cool and that performing for 10,000 people in his hometown was the ultimate high.
(That's Gabriel on the far left of the photo. I don't have Photoshop so I couldn't do any kind of fancy-schmancy arrow pointing to him.)

Tico's eyebrows looks scary and painted on, ala Groucho Marx.
